Swim Week Essentials for Mallee Schools
Swim Week starts on Monday, which means there’s still today and tomorrow to make sure your little swimmer has everything they need before the week kicks off.
If you’ve suddenly realised the bathers no longer fit, the towel has gone missing or you need a few last-minute swim essentials, don’t worry, there’s still time!
Our Swim Week essentials
Bathers
A comfortable pair of bathers that your child can move around in is a must. If they’re swimming across several days, having a spare pair is also really handy so one can dry while the other is ready to go.
A good towel
There’s nothing better than wrapping up in a warm, dry towel after getting out of the pool. A hooded towel can be especially handy for younger swimmers while they’re waiting between activities.
A wet bag
A wet bag is one of those things you don’t realise you need until you’re trying to pack soaking wet bathers into a school bag!
It keeps wet bathers and towels separate from everything else and makes packing up at the end of the day much easier.
Hat and sun protection
Swim Week means plenty of time outdoors, so don’t forget the sun protection. A hat and sunscreen are worth having packed and ready to go.
Hair ties that actually stay put
Long hair and swimming are a combination that calls for a good hair tie!
KKNEKKI hair ties are a great one to pop in their swim bag. They’re designed to hold their shape, stretch without losing their elasticity and stay securely in the hair, so you’re not constantly replacing stretched-out hair ties or searching for ones that have fallen out.
Perfect for ponytails, braids and keeping hair out of little faces while they’re swimming.
Water bottle
With all the swimming, running around and excitement, it’s easy for kids to forget to drink. Make sure they have a full water bottle with them each day.
Something warm
This one can be easy to forget. Kids can get chilly after getting out of the water, especially when they’re waiting around for their next swim.
A jumper, trackies or another warm layer is a great addition to their bag.
Easy shoes
Thongs or easy slip-on shoes are perfect for getting around the pool area and are much easier for kids to get on and off throughout the day.
Don't forget to label everything!
Towels, bathers, hats, water bottles and clothes have a funny way of all looking the same once they’re in a pile with everyone else’s!
A quick name label can save a lot of searching at the end of the day.
