The Esperance Show is on this weekend! Are you heading along with the little ones?

The show is always a great day out for the family, with plenty to see, do and, of course, spend your money on. Between the rides, show bags, food and all the exciting things the kids just have to have, it can be an expensive day out before you know it!

One way to save a little money is to pack a few essentials from home before you head out the door. And if you live in Esperance, you know our weather can be a little unpredictable. It might start off chilly, warm up by lunchtime and turn windy again by the afternoon!

So, before you load everyone into the car, here’s our little reminder of what to pack for a day at the show.

Your Esperance Show Packing Checklist

Clothing and weather essentials

• A warm jumper or jacket for those chilly mornings and late afternoons.

• A hat to keep the sun off little faces.

• Sunglasses for those sunny spells.

• Sunscreen, even if the morning starts out cloudy.

• A light rain jacket, just in case the weather turns.

• Comfortable shoes for little feet that will be doing plenty of walking.

• A spare change of clothes for little ones who might get wet, muddy or messy.

• An extra layer for babies and toddlers, especially if they’ll be in the pram.

Food, drinks and practical bits

• A filled water bottle for everyone.

• Snacks for the kids to keep hunger at bay between meals.

• A packed lunch if you’re trying to keep food costs down.

• Plenty of wipes for sticky fingers and messy faces.

• Tissues and hand sanitiser.

• Nappies, wipes and nappy bags if needed.

• A small first aid kit with a few basics, including any regular essentials your family might need.

Little things that can make a big difference

• Their favourite comforter, dummy or cuddly toy for when little legs get tired or things become a bit overwhelming.

• A spare set of undies for toilet-training toddlers.

• A bag big enough to carry everything, plus room for any show bags you bring home.

• A portable charger if you’ll be taking lots of photos or using your phone throughout the day.

• A pram or carrier for babies and toddlers who might not manage the whole day on their feet.

• A few extra hair ties for keeping hair out of little faces on a windy day.

And one last thing, pack a little patience and leave some room for spontaneity! Sometimes the best parts of a day out are the things you didn't plan.

Save Your Money for the Fun Stuff!

A little preparation can make such a difference. Having water, snacks, spare clothes and those everyday essentials ready to go means fewer last-minute purchases and more money left for the things the kids are really looking forward to.

Of course, we all know that even the best-packed bag can be missing something once you get out the door!
